A/C Temperature

As temperatures continue to rise, we ask for your cooperation in helping your air conditioning system operate efficiently.

Please do not set your thermostat below 70°F.  While it may seem like lowering the temperature to 68°F or below will cool your apartment faster, residential air conditioning systems are designed to maintain a temperature that is approximately 20 degrees cooler than the outdoor temperature. Setting the thermostat lower will not cool your home more quickly and can cause the system to run continuously, struggle to keep up, and increase the risk of unnecessary maintenance issues and a higher electric bill.

To help your air conditioner perform at its best, please:

  • Keep your thermostat set at 70°F or higher.
  • Keep doors and windows closed while the air conditioner is running.
  • Close blinds or curtains during the hottest part of the day to reduce heat from the sun.
  • Notify the office if your system is not cooling properly.

Your cooperation helps ensure that your air conditioning system operates as efficiently as possible throughout the summer and helps prevent avoidable breakdowns.
